Actually, it is normal. Most people just don't notice(How many people are staring at their belly's?) However, pregnant woman can very easily see their belly's "pulse". This is because the skin is so stretched. ;)

What you are seeing is the displacement of other organs when your heart expands and contracts. Your body cavity is a pretty tight fit and it is common when you are lying very still or when your heart is beating especially heard to be able to see the impact on your stomach. I have laid down and watch mine beat before and I thought it was a problem, but it's normal. If you feel any chest pain or you have shortness of breath from mild exercise, you should see your doctor as these could be signs of heart trouble. But even an enlarged heart would probably not cause much more of this phenomenon to occur than what you are seeing in a normal person. If you are unsure, ask a relative or close friend who has similar weight and body style to compare with you. And if you are afraid, check with your doctor, who you should see every year to let him check you out and to ask silly questions to that you have wondered about (but keep it to 1 or 2 a year or you will lose your audience).

I am a nurse, and they told me that in school, too, and it is possible, but i have that too and have had it many years, and it is not an anyuerism. I don't think most people have it, but you can have it and it not be an anuerism. i can not seem to spell that stinkin word, but i do know what i am talking about. an anuerism, occurs quickly, and kills quickly and is usually at least uncomfortable, if not painful. you'd know to go see the doc if it were an aneurism. i think you are fine= i also can feel a pulse in my eyes, and many other places you aren't supposed to feel it hope this helps

As in, when you're laying flat you can see it moving slightly??? No, it isn't normal and unless you're extremely skinny, I'd be concerned. It can be a sign of an aneurism, so see your doctor.

I would have it checked out if I were you. It may be nothing, but it could be an aneurysm.
