One of my friends was showing me her engagement ring, and when she showed it to me, I had an upset stomach...it must have been because of something I cooked for myself.

I was admiring the ring, and all of a sudden I vomited on the engagement ring and hand which it was on. Immediately afterwards, I apologized profusely. Should I also bake something for her as an apology? I feel absolutely horrible about this!

Apologizing must be done, but in a specific way.
" I'm sorry I hurled on your ring; I'll get it cleaned" ain't gonna help.

" I'm sorry I hurled on your ring. It was so beautiful, but I saw my reflection in the polished gold and couldn't prevent barfing" might help.

I would most definately suggest that you cook her something. Perhaps cookies, but make sure they're not to crunchy (if you catch my drift). It would show that you are feeling horrible (as you should be) enough to bake something besides jello. Then ASK her if she wants it cleaned, because she might want a bit of dried barf on it to remind her of the incident.

Apologize and offer to wash the ring. It will wash off so it's not a permanent harm.

I hope you're feeling better.

For what it is worth, your story has given me a much needed laugh at the end of a hellish day.

In terms of etiquette, a note and a balloon bouquet or bouquet of flowers will suffice.

Tell her that it isn't a comment on her fiance, sometimes an upset stomach is an upset stomach....

Actually, just say sorry and offer to pay for professional cleaning.

I don't think any apology will ever be big enough to make up for that but you should offer to have a jeweler professionally clean it and pay for it.

DON'T BAKE HER ANYTHING. Especially if you told her you vomited from something you cooked for yourself.

Ha, wow...it came out so fast that you didn't have time to move her hand or redirect your face in another direction?
