We have four cats 2 female and 2 male. Sometimes the little female crys and howls mostley when she is in heat each month, but we have an older male that also does this. Why? ( Oh, and he did this before we got the little girl.)

The oldest cat (male )started doing this long before the little female came along. And the little girl is a year old and the only one that is not been fixed. I just wanted to know if ther was something more to this. And no! They are not in pain! They are very well taken care of!

I've seen cats do this because they're spoiled. and they don't like to be alone. or in heat.

Some Breeds are very vocal. I have one of those. Both my cats are fixed, so I KNOW it's not a heat cycle. And if the cats live together long enough, they pick up habits from one another. So that might also be it for the male.

The louder the Howl the badder the cat maybe? He's trying to be impressive.

That's just what they do when they haven't been fixed. I think it's a mating call.
