Hi I'm 13 too, i have a dog and i also had to save up money to get my puppy and ill tell you what i did first i started babysitting (i know you tried that) and i also did EXTRA chores around the house then finally to get the last bit of money i needed i phoned up my aunts and uncles and asked if they needed anything to be done!! And i helped my aunt clean out her basement. Then to answer your other question i would defiantly go to the Pound to find a puppy they are cheap ADORABLE and want a loving home that I'm sure you could give them. Well i hoped i helped Good luck!!

Paper Routes, odd jobs (shovel snow), help neighbors pick up trash. Ask your parents what jobs they need done around the house - see if you can work out payments that way.

For a cheap puppy - first you might want to ask your parents if you are totally responsible for the puppy because it is not just the buying cost but the vet bills and dog food - trust me I have three and they can get pretty expensive - with licensing, shots, food and anything else it could cost a lot. And you don't want to be on the spot for another life if you can't afford it.

If all that is not a concern and your parents are going to help with vet, food and other needs - go to your local animal shelter - most of the time after prequalification you can get a puppy or young dog for like 50 bucks.

But remember it is a living thing that needs to be taken care of and loved. Meaning walking, feeding, loving and spending good quality time with it. It is kind of like having a baby.....that dog will depend on you for everything! But dogs are great to have!

I would not recommend getting a puppy unless you are fully prepared to pay for all it's cost. Puppy's are hard work and take full dedication. They get sick and need many shots. This can cost up to 500 dollars just for shots. Also if anything goes wrong with your dog expect expenses! But If you think you can afford a dog I would reccomend trying petfinder.com they have many pets up for adoption and you can find one at a local shelter. You can specify and say you want a small, young dog. The fees for adoption are usually around 50-75 dollars! Hope this helps!

Try an animal shelter. They usually have a lot of bigger dogs and sometimes you can find a puppy, however, puppies are a lot of work so you may consider an older dog. A shelter should be cheaper, but check around cuz in my case I looked at shelters and the price they were charging for a small dog is what I paid for my purebred.

Congratulations!

How exciting for you. You really should check out the shelters or rescue clubs. You will save yourself alot of money (to buy your new friend toys and clothes...hehehe)

But if not and you really want to go with a purebred from a breeder and you need to get a small dog here are a few suggestions:

Pug -- I have one and she is great..cool looking, great personality, funny as heck..everyone will stop to look at it and they are usually under 20 lbs

Chihuahua -- Need i say more about these dogs? they are just sweet!

Boston Terrier -- Another really nice small breed!

I still think you should check out the shelters or rescue groups. They will love you forever for saving them and giving them a home.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Adopt a small dog - save the money for vet bills. You'll need it! Also remember - adopting an animal means saving a life!

If you do end up buying a puppy, remember that often cheap puppies = poor quality puppies. They'll be cute, but they're also likely to have health problems.

First, ask your parents what you can do around the house for money toward the puppy
Second ask your parents it the can go to petfinder.com and pick pet size small or medium pet dog your zip
What will come up are dogs in shelter, and needs homes
This will show how responsible you are.
You can keep trying petfinder until you have the money, or the dog
Good luck

Go to the shelters and see if they have any small breed pups there. It won't be a purebred, but you can get a cute puppy anyway. You could put flyers up for babysitting. You have your former clients you can use as references. And call them and ask if they will refer friends to you. Good luck.

if you dont have enough money, try to ask your parents to buy it for you and pay them back as much as you can...i used to deliver newspapers and i got $60 a month...so you can pay them back some of your money each month until your done paying them back =)
also, make a deal with your parents so you can get some money from doing chores....and yes, delivering newspapers can be really tiring...you can also find another family who needs a baby sitter =)
sometimes, newspapers have free pets too =) also try looking in there =) pounds and animal rescue centers have some animals too...and they arnt THAT expensive sometimes..some are actually healthy too =)

Boston Terriers are great! YOu could always check a pound or a local rescue and you may find the perfect little pooch that needs a good home. Good luck!

P.S. Washing cars or mowing lawns?
