Depends which cider you are asking about. Strongbow and other ciders you find on tap in most pubs are fairly harmless, don't know about chemical content though.
Other "cider" brands such as K, Diamond White etc have a strong alcohol content mixed with other stuff: i.e. no apple is involved in the process.
Real cider, scrumpy , can often be very strong in alchohol content and can harm you if drunk to excess.
The others can cause you problems but only due to the chemicals added.
Nothing will harm you if you drink wisely.

Cider does not rot the stomach or gut but is does do some weird and wonderful things to your tongue. if you drink to cider all your life you will get to a stage where the only things that you can taste will be peppers. which i suppose is not a bad thing.

Some people have a sensitivity to apples. Hard cider and non-alcoholic cider can bother the stomach.

I've no idea...but the Americans that read this will be confused, as I believe Cider is just non-alcoholic Apple juice over there...

PS Too much Scrumpy might be a bit dodgy though...

i wouldn't know if it damages your stomach or gut, but observing some rough cider drinkers (as in they drink rough cider, rather than as in rough people drinking cider) in our local pub I would have to say that it appears to damage the brain somewhat

I've heard tell that scrumpy definitely does.

I would steer clear of the real scrumpy houses.

If you are already experiencing difficulties or you know someone who is I would leave it alone for a while and see if the problem goes away. If you don't notice an improvement definitely see a doc.

Good Health
