Hi. My kitten is just getting over a eye infection. It was actually an upper respitory infection that lead to a viral conjuctivitis. Do a yahoo image search of Conjuctivitis. See if any of these pictures are simular to what your cat has. Now they put me on an eye ointment, but it didn't help. He had to be on the ointment and oral antibiotics. The vet will clearly be able to tell you. Please don't put neosporne in the eye unless first directed by a vet. I read that you shouldn't use any human cremes to use in the cats eyes. Also use warm water on a rag and rub his eye clean a couple times a day. Good Luck with your kitty!

Take the poor baby to the vet. Even if you go to a pet self-help website, it will tell you the same. Your cat might have an infection and you need a vet to dispense the meds. Look for low-cost pet care or go to the Humane Society near you if money is a prob.

You could try home methods if the swelling is well above the acual eye. If it is affecting the eye itself then if needs to go the vet. Infections can be fatal because they are so close to the brain. If it is a scratch , and well above the eye, it could be doctored at home.

Take your cat to a vet now. Imagine how painful it would be if you had a swollen eye. Now imagine how it would be if no one would give you medical care. You don't want that for your cat, you are the one to help your cat, she trusts you for her care.

Your cat could have an infection. try and wash the area with some baby shampoo and warm water to make sure that there is nothing on the surface and then head straight to your vet to make sure that there is nothing seriously wrong.
