i have a friend who i just met and he started calling me sweetheart....there's no feelings or anything, what's a sweet name to call him other than sweetheart? or sweetie?

The word was applied by the "women's liberation movement" in the 1960s and used to describe men who believe women are inferior, speak to them as inferiors, or treat them negatively based solely upon their gender.

If he's not your boyfriend he should use your proper name to show you respect. If he's dating you or if he's old enough to be your dad it is acceptable to call you "Sweetie".

in cases like this I usually respond either sweetie or babe or honey
