Something fast and free would be great, but if there is a program you have purchased that DEFINITELY is fast and easy, please let me know.

well i want to put this on my zen vision: m so i need it to convert to mpeg not for a DVD R format.

Super DVD Ripper has always worked great for me. Sorry, I don't know of any free ones.

You need to get the files onto your PC (DVDshrink will do this)
You then need something called DVD2AVI to create a project file.
To encode to mpeg or AVI requires mpeg conversion software. I don't know of any free ones, but cinema craft encoder is the best and TMPEGEnc a close second.
The only way you'll do this FAST is by ending up with very poor picture quality.
