If you look for a thing called UTC (GMT) on the net, you may find that Greenwich in the UK is the place where it has been Universally accepted that time starts.
The West coast of Australia is 2 hours behind the East coast of Australia.
The easiest thing for you to do is to change the clock setting on your computer. If you are using windows you can do this by double clicking the clock in the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen. Then scan through the drop down pannel till you find the city in Australia you want. Then set the time to, lets say Sydney. This way you will always know when to catch people in their most receptive moods.

Australian Eastern Standard Time is 15 hours ahead of New York, but with daylight saving here it is now 16 hours ahead. Brisbane (Queensland) does not have daylight saving so it is 15 hours ahead of NY. (OK I know NY is not in Miss) Depends on the regions, we have 3 time zones east to west. Why not check the net for world time zones?

depends on two things you left out.
where is 'over here' and where in Australia? They have different time zones just like the USA.
So, go here and find out for yourself:

go to www.timeanddate.com/worldclock it will tell you exactly what time it is in almost every city in the world. It just gives you a list of city names and tells what time it is in that city beside it. No need for a converter or anything.
