Adderall is an amphetamine so it can have the same negative side effects as crystal meth (strokes, sudden death). Thats why it was pulled off the shelves in Canada and has been repeatedly reviewed by the FDA here. Its also been shown to have some adverse affects on sexual health. If you want specifics, search for adderall in Yahoo Health.

Its also been repeatedly proven that there is a limit to the information one can retain in a day. While adderall will keep them awake, it will not increase their ability to remember that additional information. They may study more, but they won't learn more. The only effective way to learn more is to start studying earlier.

It could be bad for them, especially if they are taking large doses of it. While it is in the same family as meth though it is not as addictive. Unless they are taking more than 20 MG a day they are not going to become addicts, and they will not have withdrawal if they don't get it. Adderall can cause sudden heart attacks, weight loss, irregular heart beat and insomnia. But if they are only taking it sporadically, and not taking a lot of it then the chances of any short term or long term effects are slim. Hugh Heffner used to take a form of Adderall for years and he is 80.

Taking Adderall when you do not have ADD/ADHD and when you are a young adult you might as well be taking Meth. It is in the same drug family as meth. They will become addicted and dependent on the drug. The worst thing is there is no easy way to get off the drug. And when you are trying to quit you go threw with drawl as bad as a person detoxing off of meth or heroin. Let your friends know this information and all so that if they are caught taking the drug it is a automatic 10 year sentence. This drug is so powerful that pharmacy's put in in a safe if they are not picked up in 30 mins. They do not even put Valium or xanax in the pharmacy safe. Good luck to you and your friends

That is a lot of Adderall, to take that close together. 45mg by itself, is not a dose to play with. 45mg alone, would spin me for quite a while. I would expect it to take about 10 1/2 hours after the 2:30 dose, for it all to leave his system, and his body to calm down. The guy needs to take Idiot Control, instead. Or, go to a therapist. Good luck!

The reason it is bad for them is because they cannot be sure that it is truely adderall and plus if they are getting it from someone that means someone who is SUPPOSED to take it isn't taking their dose. Also as you already know it is not a good idea to take any medication without talking to your doctor first. There is not much you can do about the ones who take adderall with a script except consider reporting them to your school.

Where are they getting this? Adderall is a prescription drug. It raises the heart rate. If you need it, that's one thing but if you don't, you are taking unnecessary risks to your health. If that doesn't scare them, tell them that taking prescription drugs that are not prescribed to you is against the law. I think you are great to be concerned about your friends.

Do not! I repeat do not take any medication especially prescription with out a Dr's approval. Do not take anyone else's meds either. It is prescribed for that person. You have no idea how that med may effect you!

im not a medical student or doctor.. but i have taken this and do not have ADD... or atleast have not been diagnosed with it...
i have heard that it can get very addictive.... as far as health issues go, if people with ADD and ADHD take it,,, i dont see how it is more harmful, if any to people without the condition...
it does help with concentration a lot..
