Whenever there's a visit imminent you should always agree on a time limit...eg; from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, or from 7pm to 10.30 and stick to it. Get this agreed before they arrive. If you want to get out of having them at all for some reason, you'll have to be honest "we don't get on so why should be bother pretending...let's make do with xmas cards and phone calls" otherwise you'll have to make up a different excuse every time!
Excuses before they come -
1. Say you ave the decorators coming
2. Say you have a bad case of impetigo, mumps, measles, asian flu etc.
3 TTell them the gas mains has been leaking, but never mind, they can come anyway and say you'll look into it as soon as you leave.
4. Tell them that nothing we've tried has got rid of the mice/cockroaches etc. but that you'll look into it after their visit.
5.Tell them you're going away
6. Tell them you've other people coming
Excuses when they're there but won't leave -
1. Can you smell gas...oh no, dont say we've got that old problem again...remember when I told you the house nearly blew up...no? I'm sure I did....etc.
2.Go to bed, feign illness (contagious)
3.Secretly invite a group of people they hate to join you and let them in on the plot
4.Go out every day, evening and leave them to it...won't they get the hint?

How do you get rid of unwelcome family? First of all are you married, or this is your family you are talking about. In plain language tell them that you do not want them there anymore and to find somewhere else to stay because you would rather be alone. My husband and I have always cherished our solitude we do not let anyone stay here with us, whenever some of our relatives come from out of town planning on staying for one, or two weeks we usually recommend a motel nearest us and in plain language we always tell them to find somewhere else to stay because we do not like to have visitors to be staying with us.

Well you can leave and then they will be rid of you.

With no more information then we have here, that would be the easiest way to get rid of unwelcome family for you~~

Have a family like mine and you'll be fine. I never hear from them.

Failing that screen all incoming phonecalls with caller ID and an answer machine. Don't answer the door. Change your mobile number. Move house if possible.

Hire a hitman perhaps....

In Thailand when you marry a lady you marry her whole family too! So they come to your house drink your booze and raid the fridge etc as if it was their own.

I told my missus to get them out, and she said if they go I go. I said OK gooooooo. It was much better when they had all gone and I am happier living with my lovely dog.....

Sever ties with them "officially" ie write to them that you are severing ties with them. If this is too drastic, then put all their belongings outside your house and change all locks to your house and to the room they occupy. Keep the keys.
