Typically, financial aid and college admission applications are two different forms submitted at different times. It is all right to fill out the financial aid form with colleges and universities that a person has not heard back or not on their admission status due to the financial aid deadline.

Apply for the college first (to find college app deadlines, go to Petersons.com and look up the colleges...most are around March or April). After you have been accepted, then you apply for Financial Aid (you can request information through the FInancial Aid office at the college you attend). Some schools will let you apply for Financial Aid before being accepted, so you know how much you can get at each school and decide that way.

Get an application for the colleges you want to go to, or check online to see what their deadlines are. They are different for different schools. You should probably start this now, because you'll need time to write your essays. Apply now, and then fill out the FAFSA, which you can do online. This is the form that tells colleges how much financial aid to offer you based on your financial need. You can look online at fafsa.gov to find out more. See your school's guidance counselor for the deadline for the FAFSA. You'll need tax information from our parents and/or guardian when you fill it out-- the site tells you everything you'll need. Financial aid awards can come in the form of grants, loans or scholarships, but in order to get any of them, you need to fill out the FAFSA. Every school requires it. Also, many schools include a financal aid application along with the admissions application.

Also, look up scholarships online or in your guidance office to see what you may qualify for, and apply! You can get good money from scholarships.

You school's guidance counselor should be able to answer any other questions for you. Your parents can help you fill out the forms.

Good luck!

Go on the colleges websites and find out the information in their "new students" area. Most colleges have this on their website. Look for a FAQ area for those answers. As for financial aid, your college of choice will help you decide if you are eligible for any of their aid, otherwise you can set up an account with FAFSA which is a federal loan program.

A great site as a resource is http://www.collegeboard.com
They can help you with everything. But also check your future school's website as well as http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Good luck! Stop by your counselors office too. When filling out the actual application you are going to need your parent's tax information and personal information as well as your own.
