Hmmm... I always thought that if you are a sinner throughout your life and if, just before the final curtain, you manage to nip in for a spot of confession/redemption (et al), then you get a clean slate to hand in at the pearly gates.
So, the moral of that story? Perhaps it is save the prayers til the end (whenever that may be).
And please don't give me a thumbs down for expressing an opinion - isn't casting not thee first stone et cetera sinful behaviour too? I'm not the one who suggests that "it's never too late to go to god!".

Sin is impossible to avoid. It's part of our nature. It's possible to sin accidentally, but not all the time. So for most sin, it's certainly by choice.
God knows this. He knows we're not perfect. That's why Jesus died on the cross. To do what we can't possibly do for ourselves – make us righteous before God. His death covered every sin, the ones I committed before I became born again and the ones I have yet to commit. No loopholes.
What God is looking for is a repentant heart. He knows I will sin again. Willfully. But He also knows my sin nature prevents me from being perfect.
The day I confessed my sinful nature to God and admitted I need His help, He forgave me and handed me a ticket to heaven. Is that wild or what? And it's an irrevocable ticket. God doesn't backtrack like a Washington politician.
And yes, I will continue to sin, ask forgiveness and be forgiven. Only an all-loving God would continue to forgive me. Try sinning against your best friend every day, then with a repentant heart ask forgiveness. How long do you think that'll last?

To be truly forgiven, you have to stop committing the sin you are asking forgiveness for or it will not be forgiven and you will go to purgatory or hell to atone for the punishment due for that sin. Hell is an equal opportunity player and is going to tempt you to continue to commit the sin. Instead of praying for forgiveness, try praying for the courage to stop sinning altogether. When that happens, you will be content with your life and just may end up in Heaven someday.

Of course He can. Nobody is gonna con God, so forget that bright idea. If you sin 20 times tonight and need to repent twenty times, then so be it. Common sense goes hand in hand with Biblical teachings. If you have something going on where its obvious that you are gonna sin over and over - good example:
lets say you have a heroin addiction. You can pray all you want to and repent, but you would know, and so would God, that when you start getting sick as hell and need a shot of dope, you're gonna go get one, plain and simple. God IS smart, and what you would do is tell him you are sorry for the situation - that if you had a choice, you'de choose not to shoot dope, and you need help.
God doesn't wake up each morning looking for somebody to zap; who would want to have a God like that? Well, He's not like that.
Nobody is going to hell, without having every fair opportunity to avoid it.

That depends on the sins that you are committing. If you are knowingly committing the same sins day after day and you know that you are doing it then it's pretty hard to ask for forgiveness and expect to get it. But at the same time nobody can answer for God and know what he will do. But to be on the safe side don't continue to committ sin especially when you know it's wrong what you are doing.

Catholics believe that if you die with unrepented sins you must go to pergatory. Protestants believe that if you truly want to follow God you would live your life trying not to sin, God knows if you are sincere because he knows what's in your heart. So you must ask yourself if you truly love God when you continue to commit the same sins over and over again. Obviously there are some sins that we commit several times daily that we ask for forgiveness for in a general way when we pray.

Never. the meaning of forgiveness is the same as the meaning of eternal. They are one and the same. Live in the now. Sin is just a balance to goodness.

There is not one mortal who dose not sin, more than once, every day. That is why it is a good thing that it is not sin that keeps any one out of Heaven or sin that sends any one to hell... well... except for one sin.... rejecting God... That is the only thing that will result in one being eternaly seperated from God... if you reject God, God will ultimatly reject you.... But All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and will enter Heaven.

You're right. God can see thru people who sin deliberately. When you ask for forgiveness, you are also to repent of your sin which means you turn away from it and try not to do it again. We all still sin, but hopefully as we grow in our Christian faith, we will sin less and less.
