the female dachshund is in her 7th day, and they are having hard time to do it

It's 14 days from the day she started her heat cycle. She will not allow the male to mount her until then. She will stand still and move her tail to the side when she is ready. Nature can not be forced. But the real questions is what are you going to do with the puppies? There are so many unwanted pups as it is, why add more?

Honestly, if you're asking a question like this, I have to agree that you should not be breeding your pets.

If you're struggling on this stage, how will you handle the pregnancy? What if she has problems? Will you consult Yahoo Answers again? What about when she begins whelping? What if a puppy's stuck or is still born or one dies after birth? What if she isn't lactating properly or does not know to care for and feed them? Do you know how to do all of that and handle those situations? Will you know how to handle the puppies when they begin to move around? Do you know what ages to introduce certain mental stimuli? Do you have a vet on call in case something happens, or immediate transportation if you need to get to the vet?

Please spay and neuter your dogs and reconsider bringing more puppies into the world foolishly. Before re-opening this Pandora's Box of breeding again, research first. Make sure you know EVERYTHING there is to breeding, including the risks and even the rare "what if" cases like the back of your hand, and make sure you understand fully and are committed on how to handle such situations.

they should not be doing it on day 7. If you do not know how to breed you should not be doing it. dogs are in heat for 20 days. the first 10 do not count then they should onlly breed only other day for 3 days. And expect to loose the pups dachshunds are hard to breed. My vet tried. Said it was to hard.

Since you so obviously know nothing about breeding, you likely also know nothing about looking after a pregnant dog, helping her whelp, nor how to look after a litter of newborns. Do your dog a favour and have her spayed - no need to contribute to the numbers of unwanted puppies being killed in shelters every day!

Abandon the idea of breeding your dogs. Neuter your male and spay your female.

Spay and neuter. Then go to English class. But first, spay and neuter.

Dont listen to the others. If you want to breed your dog go ahead and breed them as long as you are a responsible pet owner! I would contact your local vet and see what he or she has to say. You could also give her 2 more days and see what happens!

Please learn SOMETHING about breeding dogs before attempting it. Are you trying to kill them?
