I know infantry is a combat MOS but all other marines see combat daily in iraq also?

Probably more Marines than army face combat right straight in the eye. However, not all are combatants. Like any infantry battalion, certain people have certain jobs, even jobs that don't necessarily put them in harms way. However, in a war zone like Iraq, there is no job that will guarantee your safety.

Today, more and more out sourcing is used, so that all combatants are available for combat. This way, the service gets more bang for the buck in using most or all of their troops for what they have been trained to do. All Marines have an infantry MOS, however they may also have another specialty, but they are all trained to be infantry personnel, if needed!

The answer is both yes and no. They are taking a lot of Marines for patrols and security operations. So, if you join, you will probably be in a position to get some if you end up in Iraq. Rumor has it that deployments are going to be extended to a year to give Marines more time at home for R&R.

As for combat arms in the Marine Corps, anything with 03 in the front of the MOS is going to be a ground pounder, but with them will also be Combat Engineers, H.E. Motor T, Intel, and if you would rather not join the Corps, look into the Navy as a Corpsman or an RP. Talk to the recruiters about it.

No not every Marne faces combat in Iraq on a dialy basis but the marine grunts as a whole do face more combat situations % wise than do the Army , Air force or naval forces of same type.
less than 40 thousand of our troops in Iraq are atal combat arms personel and not everyone therre has heard a shot fired in anger.
t
There is no force on earth better at killing an an enemy than the marines and the Army most times is nothign more than garrison tropps with only a very few of its units doing any actual patrol or combat ops.
In regards to training all mariens are expectd to be bable to partake in a combat operation and they do mean able. where as the Army and orther branches sqawk a lot about telling their boys they may have to dao same the reality is much different.

Every Marine is a Rifleman, first. Yes every member of the armed forces face combat.......
Just because you may be a clerk, doesn't mean someone won't shoot at you...that means you are a combatant....even a medic today carries a weapon and is a combatant...Chaiplains, carry side arms....War does not know your MOS....
Normal deployments are 12-13 mo, or as needed.

Compared to WW2, todays deployments are like a long weekend. WW2, you were deployed for the duration...Meaning till the war ended or you were killed.

Infantry is not the only Combat MOS....

No. If your MOS is to be a desk clerk, or paper pusher, PC Technician or whatever, you will not see combat unless needed. Everyone in the military has been trained to fight, so if it comes down to it and they are needed due to numbers, then they will fight. But if your primary MOS was something other than anything infantry related, you most likely will not see any combat.

The marines deploy for 6 months. Not every marine sees combat, but it's a higher ratio than the other branches.

300 days of continuous combat is the length of time before soldiers become combat numb. That's why there are R&R breaks, trips back home, and change of battle station rotations.

based on bushs plan to fight wars for israel deployment would be until you come home in a body bag, or injured. then your no longer needed as a TOOL , from their you end up in the ground, or fighting for a few dollars a month and being told by va doctor that the condition is all in your head , time to buck up and move on.
