The Bible contends that the most basic unit of all of society is the family. This verse contends that it is foolish to bring trouble to your family. They provide love, support, encouragement, counsel, and advice. Why isolate yourself from all that they provide?

He that troubleth his own house (this is about making foolish choices) shall inherit the wind (means gain nothing by doing that): (that is where the sentence and thought ends and an new one begins) and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart (fool is equal to those who are wicked or bad they will be beneath those who are smart and good and follow the correct path).

In the New Living Translation of the Bible, it says "Those who bring trouble on their families inherit only the wind. The fool will be a servant to the wise."

I think this means that no matter how bad or good your family is, they are the only family you have been given, and you need to care for them. (Believe me, I know how hard this can be.)

If you get hold of a NIV (New International Version) bible, you won't have to interpret the Old English into our current day meanings. It's a lot easier, and it will be more relevant to you. Go to http://www.ibs.org/niv/index.php (International Bible Society)
