Do you have a cable box or wall connection? If you have a cable box and it has the component output on the back (red, white, yellow, green, blue) then buy a cheap component cable for great picture quality. If you have a wall connection then the lines going through some channels are due to a crappy cable line from the wall to your tv. Go spend $20 or more on a good quality, SHIELDED cable line. You are possibly getting interference or the end connectors are slightly damaged/warped. Try wiggling the cable around on one of the bad channels and see if that helps. Check your connections carefully.

Shouldn't have gotten a LCD TV if you can't afford digital HD cable. In order have a good picture, you need either a HD box or HD tuner.
