= Lust =

Lust (inappropriate desire) is one of the seven deadly sins. It is a sin against the virtue of chastity.

Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:27-28)

= Adultery =

Adultery is also a sin against chastity. Anyone who commits adultery:
+ Does injury to the sign of the covenant which the marriage bond is
+ Transgresses the rights of the other spouse
+ Undermines the institution of marriage by breaking the contract on which it is based
+ Compromises the welfare of children who need their parents' stable union.

With love in Christ.

Yes i believe adultery and lust are both a sin. But thou shalt not lust is not a direct commandment although it is implied and should not be committed.

Lust is a condition of the body and hormones--- Its pretty much beyond your control. What you CAN control is what you do with that lust. If you meditate on it, or act on it in an inappropriate or hurtful manner, it is a "sin". The commandments are not about the desires you get--- its about the desires you give in to.

It never says in the Bible, "Thou shalt not lust", but Jesus equates lusting after a woman to be adultery of the heart and thus violating, "Thou shalt not commit adultery".
