I am having problems with Windows XP randomly completely freezing. I was thinking that it could be RAM, but when I go into the Event Viewer, it has the same error at the exact time of each of the crashes. It shows the source as Tcpip, and the event as 4226. Could it be the network card? Any ideas? Thanks.

I do have a couple of anti-spyware apps that I do run regularly, and I have McAfee antivirus.

My Windows XP was doing the same thing, sometimes it would do it 5 or 6 times in a day...totally annoying and frustrating the heck out of me. To make a long story short I downloaded and installed the program "Ad-Aware SE" and it seemed to pick a lot more stuff up than Norton or any other programs did. And this helped, it no longer freezes, but I'm constantly doing scans and checking for sypware, because that was the inital problem. Hope this helps

Perhaps you have too many applications running which would overload your processor causing crashes, or perhaps you have a nasty virus that is doing it. I would suggest downloading an antivirus from the internet to check to see if you have one then buy a quality one if viruses are found (ex. Webroot Spy Sweeper With AntiVirus which is my personal favorite, or Norton ANtivirus 2007.) Hope this helps Brodster

Says its probably Windows Malware.

Is your Anti-virus up-to-date? When was the last time you did a full scan?

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
