I dont have any piercings currently and decided that I want a tongue-web piercing. NOT A TONGUE PIERCING, a tongue-WEB piercing. A tongue-web, aka tongue frenulum, is that little skin-flap-attached-thingy underneath your tongue. I have done a lot of research on it and my parents have given me permission to get it. I am 15 years old. Can someone help me with a few questions?

1. How long have you had your tongue-web piercing? I know that they tend to migrate or reject, but I've never found a time on how long they usually last.

2. Did it hurt? Did they use numbing stuff?

3. How much did it cost?

4. Did you have any problems with it, like infection or unusual pain or etc?

Any other information or comments would be greatly appreciated! Please dont lecture me about it though, because it wont do much good. I will readily accept relevant criticism or warnings, but dont gripe at me like a grandma. Thank you very much! =)

I own a tattoo and body piercing shop and I've never had anything pierced but I know a lot about it.

2. Anytime you get a needle shoved through your flesh, it's going to hurt but we have a gel that numbs it for about 20 minutes.

3. The only way you will get an infection is if you went to someone who hasn't got the right credentials and schooling and they Pierce you with non sterile equipment or you just don't take care of it properly.

Take care of your piercing and you shouldn't have any problems.

Many shops won't pierce a 15 year old, you are subject to growth sperts and this could be bad for your piercing causing it to grow out. You really need to wait until you're at least 16 and if you can get your parents to sign a waver form, you should be alright.

The price is different in every state but here it's $40 jewelry and all.

First of all, it usually takes about 6-8 weeks for the piercing to be fully healed. I wouldnt reccomend taking out the jewelry until then, and when you do take it out, dont leave it out for more than an hour or so-at first. After about 6 months, I was able to take mine out for about 6 hours, but it was a little difficult to put back in. Your tongue is a muscle, so it heals very fast. I was in the Airforce when I had mine pierced for the first time, and no one knew I had it pierced, so my best reccommendation would be to learn to talk without showing the inside of your mouth. Last but not least, your tongue is made up of a tone of veins and nerves, and it can be very dangerous, but it is very rare that anything will happen. If they hit a major artery, it could kill you, but like I said, thats very rare. I have a vein through the center of my tongue that was pierced through, and it just caused me to bleed a lot, thats all. Most people dont have any problems. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I would not recommend it unless you have a great dental plan. Any tongue piercings will absolutely destroy your teeth. My aunt is the head teacher at a well known dentist college and will not accept anyone who has a pierced tongue because she automatically knows they were so dumb about dentistry they got their tongue pierced.

They say bilemia is horrible for your teeth as the acid eats away at it, they say a pierced tongue will do it 5 to 10 years faster than bilemia ever will.

I used to work with a Speech Pathologist and she told me that tongue piercings cause speech problems.

My brother had that done, I don't know how much it cost but the only thing that he told me was that it hurt like hell and his tongue was swollen for a week. Good luck.
