I'm getting married outside at the end of April. My bridesmaid is wearing a neutral colored dress (she hasn't picked it out yet, but I would like it to be tan or very light brown or light gold or something like that). My husband-to-be is going to be wearing a kilt of either blues and greens or grays and blacks (he can't decide if he wants to go with his Scottish side or his Welsh side!) I'm not so worried about the best man, because I can always color-coordinate him, but I am worried because all of my hubby-to-be's "accessories" are going to be black: i.e. shoes, sparron etc... I'm worried that it will clash with my bridesmaid! Am I over-complicating this? Is there a way I can tie it all together without making it look too cheesy?

think about the flowers that your bridesmaids might carry, perhaps you could have some blue wisteria, or other blue orchid, or blueish pansy, then have some greenery mixed in and to band the stems together have a large black ribbon with a small tan, gold, and green or blue ribbon

...good luck...you are not the only one stressing...I am going through the same thing and have had the exact same thoughts, how do i do this without making it look cheesy...The best suggestion i can give is to pick one accent color that would match well with the girls like the green or blue and carry that through....I know you mention that the girls will wear a neutral color such as tan or gold, what about using a light green or blue, those can be considered neutral colors too

I agree with the accessories of black but here is an idea, what about a black dress with gold shimmers? You know? It's black but when she moves it has gold shimmering in it. And then she can wear gold eyeshadow or tan or light brown make up with black eyeliner. Not to gaudy looking though just a real thin line. She could wear gold nail polish. Anything will work because you have picked nuetral colors. Good luck and Congratulations.

maybe the bridesmaids dress can have a black little bow on it, or black tie around it or something~ even if its a light brown or tan it will still look nice with a small black bow/tie around.

Perhaps have the bridesmaid wear some black accessories, as well...such as a black ribbon around her waist, black jewelry, a black flower in her hair.

As long as the bridesmaid dress is a neutral color it should all work out fine - if she picks red LOOK OUT! :)

Relax - it will all work out.

See if the bridesmaid can go with something more kiltish in taste.

Just curious - Is this a more casual, evening, etc. wedding?

I think you are over complicating things a bit. But if it does make you feel better, a dress that is neautral, but would look good with black shoes - would work with his kilt. Most Grooms wear solid black regardless of what the maids wear. Think of it this way...could you put a black purse with the dress?

Like this dress would be okay - it is neautral enough:

If you would feel like it looked more cohesive, a dress with some touch of black would look very nice. Like a belt or bow. (belts on dresses are very in right now).

For example: this dress:

can be custom made with your color choice and with a black belt. (http://www.perfect-bridesmaid-dresses.com/Forever-Yours-Bridesmaid-Dresses.html)

Or a more casual
