If it's the chase that thrills you and nothing more, then you simply find another to wag your tail for. It's not a big deal. However, if you are ready for a real thriller, you commit and take your interest to a higher level.

Hopefully you can end it as friends--but sometimes one party is too involved for that to work out. You could just not call the person as often; start spending time with your friends (and telling him how much fun you are having); when the person calls you, you could say that you are on the other line, etc.

If all else fails, you may need to be honest and say that you're just ready to move on--try to be as polite as possible.

Forget I mean I know it's still in your memory but just don't be afraid to see new people and really just do things that make you happy, go to the movies, go to an amusement park, go ice skating, im sure some of your friends would love to take to help u get over it.
