Another cat question for you all. Okay so I'm confused at something that happens when I get scratched by my cat. Whenever I get cut from him, it bleeds for a couple seconds (like any other normal cut or scratch) then after a couple minutes it puffs all up and I get bumps all around the area where I was scratched. This time however I noticed that some kind of clear liquid was spewing out from where the actual cut was made (instead of blood this time) and that's never happened before. Usually I just get the puffyness and then it goes away later that night. Anyone got any ideas?

Look at what Laredawg said, and think for a sec. Yes, cat's claws are filled with bacteria, so if a cat scratches you, you really want to take a nailbrush and some soap fairly soon, and just scrub it out. I notice a huge difference when I do this, compared to when it's just not possible. No bumps, no itching, no squirting lymph fluid around, no pustules.

You just get a clean scratch, which heals without pain or irritation in no time. It does hurt a little, but it's worth it in the long run.

You are either
A) allergic and getting hives (my best bet, cause my friend is allergic and the same thing happens)
B)getting some kind of bacteria. Cat scratches can be the nastiest. Keep up to date on your tetnus shots and use polysporin asap

edit: To get your cat checked for rabies they have to kill it. I would really make that the last option

Cat Scratch Fever is a real condition.

Clean your scratch, use Neosporin etc, cover, watch it and go to Dr. if it doesn't get better soon.

I wouldn't let anyone check a cat for Rabies - do you know how they test for that?????

Here's what you should do:

1) Wash your cuts throughly and put cream on them (or a band-aid)

2) Clip your cats nails (Just a bit)

3) Call a Doctor to check if you need a check up on these cuts, they could get worse.

4) If the Doctor suggests you come, then do so.

5) Get your cat checked, he may have rabies/disease.

what that probably is you cat has rabies and because of this you are suppose to get shots so nothing happens to u and you cat gave u those because it is not cleaned. the reason why it puffed up and swelled is because your cat gave you an infection because of its dirty nails ans stuff so this is why it did this to your skin. maybe you should consider going to the doctor so they can clear this up and u wouldn't have what u are having to. i think this is a good idea to look up from because my advice could really help u with this if u didn't know. this is all i could say why your skinned got like it is now.
