I'm not a Christian, and if I were I wouldn't be reading Revelation literally. I read that a recent Greek text may have indicated that the mark of the beast was actually 616. However, it's kind of hard to make a correction when the popular culture and religious community has 666 secured in their minds. So which is it?

666- It's Nero's numerical values in Hebrew letters. It was a political thing and not an actual vision of the future.

All of the current translators accept the reading 666 - but what is that to you?

600, three score and six

1 score is 20. 3 score is 60, thus 600+60+6

Greek says :

hexakosioi hexekonta hex which is also 600 60 6

There are sever thousand manuscripts of the New Testament, one isn't going to make any difference.

there is no such thing as a mark of the beast, devil number, or evil number. i am a christain but i dont belive in such things.
