That's kind of like working for the last few minutes of the day, then asking to get any pay, isn't it?

Then again, Jesus did tell this story:

1"For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning (dawn) to hire men to work in his vineyard. 2He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3"About the third hour (nine o'clock) he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4He told them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.' 5So they went.
"He went out again about the sixth hour (noon) and the ninth hour (three o'clock) and did the same thing. 6About the eleventh hour (five o'clock) he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'
7" 'Because no one has hired us,' they answered.
"He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.'
8"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'
9"The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius. 10So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12'These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'
13"But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius? 14Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
16"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
Matthew 20:1-16

Your question is a hypothetical one, and with that in mind (since I am fairly sure you were not 10 seconds from death when you typed it) I would say that the answer is "Yes".

Although it is also a good idea not to try to wait until you are ten seconds away from death to accept the Lord.

yeah and thats the great thing about christianity.

You can be as bad as you like, do whatever you want, break all the laws, and (providing you are seriously genuiniely sorry for all your bad deeds) accept christ right before you die and go to heaven.

I like that version instead of the "Get saved now and be mentally abused for not trying hard enough" for the rest of your life.

This will give a lot of hope to serial killers, rapists, hitler like racists. They will stay busy in what they do during their active life and will think the future is bright. They will have hope thinking that they will enjoy their worldly acts now and when they know that their is no hope left for more life, they can utter a few words and bang.. the salvation.
There will be nothing left for God to judge, no true repentance required and just say the magic words and you got it.

Do you believe that it is that easy to wash your hands from the responsibility of your mis-deeds during your life?
Your book closes when your faculties start disappearing.

Sure - theif on the cross is the classic example of this in the Bible.
It's not about us but about God... however it's a shame that you're thinking about heaven starting when you die. The big point of most of the new testament is that it's about the here and now - eternal life isn't about length of life or even quality of life (primarily) but about intimate connection to The Life - ie Jesus.

No you can not, there is NO death bed confession..... You have to be baptized for the remission of your sins and mean it with all your heart, and you may be forgiven, you have to be washed in the blood of the lamb(JESUS CHRIST)and that is through being baptized in water, not pouring it over your head.... YOU have to go under that water, just like Christ was in the grave,,,, covered ,, submerged. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO TO HEAVEN!!!!PS... GOOD FOR YOU KENNY P. you got it right... ps again,, the thief on the cross was BEFORE CHRIST DIED ,,, HE could forgive the man, he was the Resurrection and the life.

That is impossible. Anyone using the thief on the cross as an example do not understand the laws spiritual and of man concerning wills and testaments. Even 2 books of the bible has comments concerning it takes the death of a testator for the testament to take effect. If you are not aware of what I am talking about then you definitely have no business trying to use the thief on the cross.

If you confess Jesus Christ your Lord, and believe in your heart He shed His own blood for remission of your sins and raised from the dead for your justification, then yes.

A recent prophetic word is that terrorist, just before they die see a vision of Jesus high & lifted up, so I think that might be a last chance opportunity for them.

Once you are in hell (pass hells gates) you are in there till judgment day.

Also, it is written whosoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Jesus Christ is Lord.

I know that some will say Lord Lord and Jesus doesn't know them. Those didn't know the Lord either, but pretended they did. They were hypocrites who weren't redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. But that isn't said to someone who hasn't died yet. Also, one person nearly died and found himself at hells gate and cried out to Jesus. He asked Jesus why, and Jesus said he wasn't born again. He woke up in a hospital bed and was born again by confessing Jesus Christ Lord and having heart faith in Him.

If the thief on the cross was able to do it by accepting his punishment and also reflecting the innocence of Jesus, who he recognized as being the Son of God, while the other thief didn't, why would not it be possible?
You do need a sincere repentant heart, not trying to pull a fast one. God will know.

Sure! "If it weren't for the last minute, a lot of things would Never get done." Also, we're all 10 seconds from dying, aren't we? I mean, do you have some kind of guaranty, right this minute?

Not neccesarily. Do you think God would allow Hitler to go to Heaven like that? Nope. It takes more than lipservice.

"Matthew 7:21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."
