It could be a problem but... I think this is just a small one. Try to count 1 to 100 or something like that when ever you want to think about breathing.... Also think about breathing is a good thing sometimes. (ex. meditation involving breathing)

son its NOT WEIRED. i had the same thing as well as thousands of other people. and i do understand. what happens is ur studying urself. then u start to hyperventalate, that is, u start breathing in to much air. this wont hurt, or kill u. when u feel this anxiety coming on take a paper bag and breath into it. you have somethink bothering you but may not know it. try talking to a friend someone u trust, about ur problems. if u can, talk to ur parents or a minister. when u start talking about ur problems with someone, the hyperventlation will slowly go away. god bless ill be praying for you.

is it that when you fall asleep you can't breathe? cuz if it is my dad had the same issue. you need to see a sleep specialist. they can tell you exactly what is wrong. my dad's uvula(they hanging thing in the back of your throat) was blocking his air passage. so he had to have surgery to remove it. but now he's having another problem, when he breathes it sounds like he's weezing.like all the time.and also when he sleeps his tounge falls down and blocks the passage.

have you ever thought that you might have asthma.

the point is there are numerous things that could be happening so no matter how wierd it might be. just please talk to someone

Sounds like anxiety or panic attacks. . . which most of us feel from time to time. I feel like that sometimes - but about my heart. If my heart starts beating fast and then I start focusing on it, it gets worse, then I get anxious, it beats faster, etc.
It's a cycle. Stop focusing on your breathing so much and try to distract yourself with other thoughts or things when you begin thinking about breathing - and when you do think about your breathing - use it to your advantage and take deep slow breaths to help keep you calm.

But if are actually having difficulty breathing and not getting enough air into your lungs, you may have asthma.

Talk to a parent or a guidance counselor. They are there to help you.

Ruling out any biological / medical disorder, which I think, by your question we can, the problem isn't with your breathing. It's with your self-consciousness. People go through acute stages in their lives where they get afraid of dying and any sign of medical or physical disorder, and as their self awareness grows, often a panic disorder develops, and problems with breathing are often encountered in their anxieties. Again, ruling out any medical history relevant to your breathing, such as asthma, your self awareness, which constantly grows in your life and sometimes grows quicker and faster than at other times, will cause you to have what can be diagnosed as Somataform Disorders according to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) where all psychiatric disorders come from. Now, that does NOT mean that you are crazy, etc.. It simply means that at this very predictable time in your life, you're having anxieties about a variety of things, one very "popular" anxiety at your age being the fear of dying, and the anxiety is upsetting your breathing. I'd venture a very educated guess that when you do go to sleep, your breathing is as smoothe and regular as a baby's, and that if your parents or brother or sister were to walk in the room, they'd never have any idea that you were having a breathing disorder, because you aren't. You only do that when you're awake and worry. When you're asleep and are not all ridden by your self awareness and the fear of dying (as an example), you're just as smoothe and regular as the healthiest person on earth. I remember years ago when I was asleep and my wife happened to wake during the night, she snuggled close to me and put her head on my chest. When she did that, she got real panicky because my heart was having only three (3) beats per cycle as opposed to the regular four (4) that people normally have. Being the medically oriented person that she was, she got panicky that I might die in the night because my heart was missing a beat. So, in the morning she made an appointment for me to see the doctor, and she rushed me over to his office where he did a cardio-whatever exam, and when he brought her into the exam room to tell her the results of his testing my heart, he had a small chuckle building across his face, and a very small smile was coming up as he rubbed his face and looked downwards and waited for her to come into the room, and said, "Ma'am, as a bicycle racer, your husband's heart is so strong that it needs only three (3) beats to do what everybody else's heart takes four (4) to do. I would NEVER worry about your husband's heart in the future." And we all had a great laugh at her worry. So, maybe the morale to that story or recollection is that, if I were you, I wouldn't spend one more moment in anxiety over your breathing. You're probably very healthy, ruling out any ailment that I do not know since I'm not an M.D. and have not seen you for an exam, and the only problem with your breathing is that you're letting your mind get in the way. Get your mind out of the process, and it'll just keep on breathing very healthfully, in and out and in and out and in and out, till it just bores you to death. God Bless you young man, and many great years ahead of you, I'm sure!
