Not at all.

There is just so much hype about global warming. Hardly a day goes by without me rolling my eyes about the latest nonsense that someone is spouting about it.

Today's nonsense? ITV's news delivered from Antarctica, telling us how the ice is all melting. Errr? Hang on a minute. Antarctica is in the southern hemisphere, so it's summer there. And most of Antarctica is within the Antarctic Circle, so for the last few weeks, the sun has been up and shining on the ice 24hrs a day. But that couldn't have anything to do with the ice melting, could it?

Of course, most of the people who watched it, don't even know where Antarctica is, let alone that it's summer there. So, no doubt they'll all be running around, screaming "Oh my god, oh my God, oh my God! It's GLOBAL WARMING! We're all going to DIE!"

I despair, I really do.

I think everyone needs a dose of clear-headed-thinking on the subject. Did you ever notice how in the movies, just before everyone gets wiped out, the nerdy scientist gives a warning that no one listens to? Some muscle-bound model type changes it into an arguement about who or what is more popular. Everyone goes with the popular and all are wiped out in the very next scene. No one listens to the scientists!!!
Folks, the truth is not up for a vote. Just because more people "believe" one way or another, doesn't make something more true.
The science surrounding climate change is coming to a consensus about the subject. It IS happening and WE ARE the cause. Are there many other factors? Yes. Is it all figured out? No.
That said, isn't it a better approach to proceed with caution? Isn't it better to conserve as much as you can, and be able to laugh about it 30 years from now, than to live like there is no tomorrow, consume with reckless abandon, and come to regret it? It is simply a logical approach.
And stay informed! Remember, you are not going to get informed scientific information from guys like Rush Limbaugh. Go to the source. Read Scientific American, read the journals Nature or Science.

It is nothing (or has very little) to do with anything we do, like driving cars or burning electricity. OK, maybe that doesn't help, but it is really the natural cycle of the earth's weather and climates. There have been ice ages and hot periods throughout history and long before man evolved and started messing about with fossil fuels etc. It is a natural cycle and we just happen to be experiencing one of the changes starting to happen.

There won't be anything quite so dramatic as Holland flooding or anything as a result of anything we do for at least 200 years - and what do I care what happens in 200 years?! I certainly won't be around to be affected by it anyway.

Politicians are taking advantage of the scare-mongering eco-Nazis to get us to buy highly taxed and expensive things like the light bulbs you mentioned and to raise "green" taxes to fund their dodgy practices and their dodgy wars - any money they raise from "green" taxes will not make a blind bit of difference to the environment.

It's all a pack of lies. Check out www.junkscience.com

What is the point of turning off your TV instead of leaving it on standby in winter? The tiny bit of energy used appears as heat which goes towards warming up your home. That in turn means that a correspondingly reduced amount of heat is supplied by your central heating. That's what the thermostat is there for.

Take a look around...it's not Global Warming, the reality is it's Climate Change. And it's here, it's now and it's for real. Cherry trees blooming in DC, No snow in the midwest and Seattle getting buried under three feet of snow. This is just the begining.

Yes. I believe it is ethical and responsible. It is my judgement call - that maybe the environment is more important than my own ego.
