The United States was founded by religious liberals, many of whom were Unitarians and Universalists, many of whom also had no formal church affiliation. If the founders had meant to establish a Christian nation, they would have done so. As it was and is, they chose to purposefully avoid proclaiming an established faith and set out in the constitution to prevent the establishment of a state religion.

No, the majority of quotes from the founding fathers of this country, explicitly state that America is not a christian nation. The constitution clearly states that the people are allowed to choose their own individual religious beliefs or lack thereof. Why do you draw the line at supreme court decisions before 1960? Are you trying to limit the evidence of the other side by drawing this arbitrary time limit on evidence? Read the constitution, and read some actual history on how this country was founded...stop getting all your misguided information from the idiots at FoxNews.

There are millions of people from all walks of life who have no clue of history. And it shows. America was in fact founded on Christ and his teachings, this includes the constitution for the united states and all courts. But that is no longer the case. The fate of the UNITED STATES has been chosen by the actions of it's citizens. A nation that forsakes Christ shall no safe place to dwell. History bears record.

Look up things like blasphemy laws, every town used to have them. This country indeed has rich religious roots. In fact, 2 of the 1st settler groups the pilgrims and puritans were both heavily religious. You may not have been taught in your liberal public school but they came over here for "religious freedom" the right to choose your own religion and not be hassled by the govt for it.
The idea that we are a nation of people with inalienable rights comes straight out of a certain American document, you can look it up in wik its called the "1776 United States Declaration of Independence." This countries founders knew God to be true and even put forth in their writings that our rights our human rights, these inalienable rights, are granted to us from GOD, not mankind.
If you have a problem with it I suggest you take it up with our founding fathers and/or God but you would have to kill yourself to do it.

I dont know what the nation was founded on.... seems if the natives were slaughtered and witches were drowned by our founding father's then it was "Christian" but if we didnt do those things and wanted everyone treated equally it wasnt.
Go figure.

Personally, I'm not saying that. I think some of them want to force their religious beliefs on everyone else.

"and this country will nor, nor will ever be, based on christianity or anyother religion"--George Washington
So in america atleast, christians need to keep their religion in their homes, churches, and minds, not outside their mouths in public.
