Actually the right verb for this word is "beber" because it means to drink any kind of liquid, but yes, the guy up there is right, also "Tomar" it is used as the verb to drink in Spanish (but it is more used for "to take".)

Books I've read say that in latin american spanish, they use Tomar, literally 'to take' a drink. In Spain, they say beber.

BEBER is the best way of saying it if you are talking about liquids...if not CHUPAR (kiddin) which is used for getting drunk and translates: to suck (hehe). If not like everyone else has said you would use TOMAR but it is more often used for ''to take''.
