it is definately very 'iffy'-I had a u/s at 16 weeks and I asked if they could tell me--the girl said no way-not yet.
I wouldnt go out and buy all blue just yet--wait until your 20+ week u/s to know for sure.

did you ask the tech if they have been wrong before or how long they have been doing it or anything?

By 14 weeks of pregnancy, the genetals are formed. The fetus is still small at this stage and it is hard to get a clear picture of that area but if your baby put its self in the right position and the docotor zoomed in, it is more than possible that they could tell the sex of the baby. The doctors usually hold off untill the 20th week to do a more indepth ultra sound and find out the sex at that time but even then, if the baby is in the wrong position, they wouldn't be able to tell. So count yourself lucky and if you ar still feeling a little nervous about buying all that blue - wait a couple weeks longer untill your indepth ultrasound and have them recheck. As far as your babies manhood being mistaken for the umbilical cord, that is nearly impossible to do. No baby in all history, has a package that big, no matter how much bragging a mother wants to do.

I had my ultrasound at 13 weeks and I was told I was having a boy. I am wondering the same thing. It seems so early.

Definitely not to soon to tell. I was told at the same time that i was having a girl. ( they were right both times) but you never know with ultrasounds. I t is always possible for them to be wrong. Good luck and Congratulations!

yeah, it's about 10 weeks too early.. the umbilical cord was what was sticking out between the legs.. there is no p ossible way to see anything of the gentials that early on. I've had 3 kids and usually wasn't till i was 7 months even before we could tell.

congrats though.. just hope for a healthy baby, dont fret so much on the sex of it.

It is way too early, the testicles don't even descend until 16 to 18 weeks. Go back in a month and try again. But don't go back to the same technician, she's a flunkie.
