Depending on how old you are, you might be describing the symptoms of an Aortic Aneurysm or a Heart Attack. Typically, an aneurysm produces pain in your mid upper back, but a Heart Attack can also do the same and travel to your chest. The pain in your arms is also a symptom of both. Go to an emergency room now! These are the worst case scenarios, but you could die if you are having one or the other. If you also are nauseous, sweating and weak, more reason to go now!

Emily M. is the way to go this time. I normally advocate for chiropractic, but with the pattern of pain moving the way it is moving, I do not want to second-guess something which might be really serious. A quick visit to the hospital would solve this problem very quickly, and you would rest a whole lot easier knowing exactly what it is. This is not, in my opinion, something to guess about. If it were just a pain between your shoulders, I would agree with the chiropractic call and say subluxation or pinched nerve - one visit would clear it out - and keep on going. But what you have presented to us is a little different, and if it were happening to me, I would already have visited the hospital to be checked out so I would know definitely what is going on. I hope this helps you decide how to move on this one. I am also very sorry you have to be beset with having to deal with it, but please - do take it seriously. Afterward, you can relax because you will have information, but right now - is no time for guessing games. Thanks for reading all this and please have a good evening. Sent to you with really good energies from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old, and visit my chiropractor every two weeks and can attest to how well it keeps me feeling. Good luck to you.)

Doubt that it's a heart attack...you don't usually have chest pain lasting a week. People can have what are called 'Silent M.I.'s' which usually affect older people. Sounds potentially muscular/skeletal, but if you are concerned in any way then go see your doctor or if it gets any worse, call an ambulance or go to your nearest hospital. Nothing beats getting a check-up!

Take a motin, and get ice on the pain
20 min ice and then heat.
(fill an empty pepsi bottle with water and freeze and fill one with hot water and put on pain)
