I am writing a 10 page expository essay about how God doesn't play politics. This argument is more about how God is not liberal or conservative than that He does not have views on the Democratic and Republican issues that surface in our society today. I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas about what topics I could include or anything that you personally think it would be good to address. This has to be 10 pages and I have some ideas but not many. Thank you for your help. Oh, and this is a freshman English college course at a public university, if that helps.

Well, to begin with God has his Son teach us to pray and one of the interesting things about this prayer is that everyone probably knows it and it puts the more important things first in the prayer.

Matthew 6:9-10

God's Name being held Holy or "hallowed"

God's Kingdom (which is in itself a Theocracy as He is the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch)

Isaiah 33:22 shows that he fills all these parts of the government of the US as I noted above.

"For Jehovah is our Judge, Jehovah is our Statute-giver, Jehovah is our King; he himself will save us." -Isaiah 33:22

I also realize that in your copy of the Bible it will say "LORD" where my Scripture says Jehovah. That is a totally different question, but one I hope that you might pursue later on.

Also, it is stated by God's Son that he was no part of the world and when the people came to make him King he fled and wanted no part of it. He also stated that his Kingdom was "not from this source"

John 15:19; John 17:14-16; John 6:14-15; John 18:36-37

That should help you out alot.

And just so you know.............. I don't vote and get involved in the Politics of this world just as Jesus never got involved.
It is all corrupt beyond repair, hence God's Kingdom will take control very soon! That is what people are praying for when they say the "Our Father" or "Lord's Prayer" so you might want to include that as well.

Hope this helps you a bunch and I would love to do the report for you, but as a 30 minute lecture! :-)

If they are prompts based on a piece of reading or something, the best way to improve is to know your book really well and plot out generic points you can make beforehand. If they are just random prompts that anybody can answer, when you're writing think if there are any stories from history or pieces of literature or quotes, that can help you make your point. You don't have to think very hard to tell a story or quote somebody, it's pretty much just summary, and it has a point.

Well I would say your premise is flawed. God throughout the Bible judges every tribe, nation, and group, even democrats and conservatives. Certainly we already know where God stands on certain issues because he has told us-like abortion.

Does God totally support either? I would have to say that if Jesus came down to give an evaluation to both parties he would have some hard stroing words for both of them, paticularly liberalism because it is very anti-religion in many ways!

God would say that he definitely shares the same views as conservatives. Conservatives are against Abortion which is murder. Conservatives are against Socialism. Conservatives stress Religious Freedom while Liberals impede it. Conservatives believe in harsh punishments for violent criminals while Liberals believe in setting them free so that they can cause harm again. Conservatives believe in Democracy above all while Liberals slant towards a Communistic approach.

But most of all Conservatives give much more to Charity as opposed to Liberals. States like Mississippi and Alabama, despite being two of the poorest states, gave much much more to Charity than your more Liberal states.

God is a

pro-life
anti-death penalty
pro-poor/anti-rich
ethical non-relativist

I could do 10 pages just with those... Name me a conservative who would condemn the rich the way God does, or a liberal who would defend the rights of the unborn or maintain the reality of moral absolutes.

i would think that god is uninterested in the way humans choose to live - it begs the question though, "what interests god?"; or better said "what motivates god?" if god is removed from human guidelines of how to live, then what purpose do those self-imposed guidelings serve? i think the purpose of this essay is to find an idealistic description of what rules best serve humanity.

You should cover abortion, stem cell research, gay marriage, taking prayer out of schools for a time, taking the word, God, out of the Pledge of Alliegance at some schools, pre-marital sex, the use of condomns, and living with your to-be spouse before marriage.

I think God's commandments he set out for us and His morals do interfere a bit w/ politics, so try out those.

If you mean the Judeo-Christian God, he is totalitarian, not democratic. That puts him outside of our system of goverment, which means he is definitely not left or right.

How can you write an essay on something that is only imagined to exist? You may as well write the same essay on Santa Clause. Both are fairy stories invented by man.
