no don't let her
tell her you know once you start shaving you have to keep up with it and that's big responsibility

I wouldn't let a six year old shave her legs either, i applaud you for that :] I think you should tell her thats she's beautiful and appearences aren't important. I know that thats really hard seeing you're daughter upset but she is her own beautiful unique self. If this becomes a huge issue you could talk to her doctor and find out if there is some sensitive formula leg remover gel, like nair, to help thin out leg hair. For the teasing, i would comfort her and maybe contact the teacher about ending the harassment. good luck :]

No way!!!!! I have an 8 year old there is no way I would let her shave!! She just turned 8 a week ago, I will most likely not let her shave until she is about 10-11. I think those kind of things should be allowed only when a child can handle the responsibility and do it themselves. I do not think a 6 year old can handle that. Also when girls start to do things like that, they begin to think they are "grown". Good luck

Six years old is too young to shave.
I'd say 5th grade is an appropriate time to start shaving because other boys and girls will notice her legs and if they say something to her about the hair, she may become embarassed by it.
However, at her young age, none of her friends are going to be shaving, so she should have nothing to worry about. Assure her the hair is natural and she won't need to shave until she is older and it becomes thicker and more noticeable.

No do not let her start shaving she is way too young. If she is worried about it though you could do something to lighten the hair like spray lemon juice on her legs and sit in the sun with her ( in the back yard where no one can see!) Just so she gets more comfortable with it or invest in a lot of tights and wait it out maybe its a phase.

My friends daughter is 7 and wants to shave as they are from a greek background and she has dark hair on her legs and none of the other kids have. She has told her daughter that she is not allowed to shave as it will grow back thicker and darker (she concentrated on the cons of shaving eg. how often it will need to be done) but if she wants they will give waxing a go and explianed that it hurts, she tested a tiny bit on her daughter and it hurt her too much and now she is happy not to wax or shave.

hope this helps

well its your decision, it doesnt matter if you have hairy legs becuz well i have hairy legs but i dont care becuz my boyfriend sure like my hairy legs so you decide do you think you can shave her legs? you decide if not then ask your child and if she wants to shave her legs then do it if not then dont and if you want to keep her safe then you can go to the store and buy some lotion and rub it on her legs and wait for a few minutes and rub off with a towel and the hair will be gone remeber its your decision

no that is way too young she should be AT LEAST 12 or 13 maybe you should tell her that she will shave her legs but dont say "someday" or "when you are older" tough it out its a while untill then so more than likely she will get over this (its probably a phase) you can do something to take her mind off it like letting her do something else that will make her feel more mature

I was the same way back in the day.
I wanted to start around 7.
My legs were extremly hairy.
My mom didnt let me shave until I was in 4th grade.
I thank her for it because if I did it any younger it would be so hard to keep up with.

well number one... does her mommy care if she goes out with hairy legs? kids get everything fom us as adults. so maybe mom should show daughter that its okay to have hairy legs. and if she still insists on shaving then maybe some play group time with other girls her age would help.

I don't think it would be such a horrible thing for her to shave her legs. She doesn't need to, but I don't think it's a big thing to worry about.

The only concern is that she is concerned about being attractive to boys too soon. If that's her issue, then maybe you shouldn't. I guess the question is, who is she doing it for? Does she simply not like having hair on her legs or is she trying to look sexy?
