Nothing turns hair white but the gradual decrease of pigmentation that occurs with age. Shock or stress does not affect hair color. Graying whether it comes with the normal process of aging or prematurely, has a genetic basis. If you are caucasion, you'll begin graying on average at about age thirty-four, the average black person begins at forty-four.
Whenever it happens, hair turns gray or white when pigment ceases to be produced in the hair root, and new hairs that grow in that are gray or white. Overnight graying rarely if ever occurs. In any case, it has never been documented. It is impossible that pigmented hair could simply shed its color without benefit of a bleach. There is, however, a rare type of scalp disorder, known as alopecia areata, which causes hair to shed rapidly. This might leave remaining unpigmented hairs looking all whiter, hence the "overnight" myth.

I had a horrifcly painfull surgical operation even as i became 30 interior of which I awakened even as they were nonetheless operating. My eyes were taped close and that i became strapped right down to the table. All i might want to do became attempt to scream and wiggle slightly. The screams got here out as severe pitched moans through intubation. after I awakened the subsequent day I had a white streak from roots to tip in the front of my hair. So IMO severe rigidity or trauma can turn hair white.

Daddy always said" it's either goin to turn white or turn loose" No stress can make it fall out. Your hair turning is a gene you get from your mother.

"A change in hair color typically occurs naturally as people age, usually turning their hair from its natural color to grey, then to white....[G]rey hairs can appear as early as the teens and twenties for some, or even in childhood. The determination of when someone begins greying, whether it comes with aging or prematurely, seems to be almost entirely based on genetics. Sometimes people are born with grey hair because it is passed down genetically....

The change in hair color is caused by the gradual decrease of pigmentation that occurs when melanin ceases to be produced in the hair root, and new hairs grow in without pigment. Two genes appear to be responsible for the process of greying, Bcl2 and Mitf. The stem cells at the base of hair follicles are responsible for producing melanocytes, the cells that produce and store pigment in hair and skin. The death of the melanocyte stem cells causes hair to begin going grey."
