Now we have no time together and on top of THAT.he has been trained to do office work and they now are putting him in a line company.I have contacted KYs senators, and talked to the chaplin to change this situation. My son in law just went thru this. You're blessed they didn't drop his rank (which will mean a pay drop), withhold BAH pay and BAS. An Article 15 is pretty hard to fight I"m afraid. I hope it goes better for your family.
Support him, encourage him and be there for him. If this is hard on you just imagine what he is going thru. Unfortunately the Army owns him right now and you are the only one who will help thru it. Make the most of all the time you have together before he deploys. Do special little things together and show him you love him and appreciate him. God Bless.

The best thing for you to do is stay out of it. Why are you bringing in politicians? Trust me, a lot of military families are in a situation worse than yours. I'm not trying to be mean but with every action there is a consequence. I'm sure he deserves his punishment seeing how an Article 15 is NOT a little trouble. They can deny reenlistment for an Article 15! Consider yourself lucky that he only received 42 extra duty days. They could have taken rank and pay.

42 days extra duty means that he was given a 'Field Grade' Article 15. This means the he screwed up royally and did not get in a "little trouble."

And as a soldier - he goes where he is needed. If he is needed in a 'lime' company then that is where he goes.

BTW - with a field grade article 15 his superiors may not have had a choice but to put him in a line company as he very likely lost his security clearance.

I hate these questions.

The "Top" NCO answer was on target:

if his MOS is say 11-B well he is infantry: only us say "line company".

He may be "acting out' for whatever reason but his "CO" should not deny his time with family before deployment.

Trust me as an NCO I ruined the career of many an officer; then well I moved up.

The 42 days are well before march, if you already contacted a US Senator, well that is enough, besides a "Field Grade" Article 15 nowadays ruins careers: back in my Army it was "no big deal".

Relax; stay clam, and well, he had the option to request a Courts martial.

Yes, we had clerks in each infantry company!

Despite all the pain: he is still serving and a soldier who deserves respect. Hope all realize that, I do.

best of all things!

Just like in the CIVILIAN WORLD...you can't do the time, don't get stupid and do the crime. HE screwed up and now HE has to pay the penalty. Sorry, no sympathy for him. I did over 20 years without one day of extra duty, fine, restriction, Captain's Mast. Most I got was a dressing down which I didn't know was a dressing down until my dept. head said, "If that's the only chewing out I ever give you, consider yourself fortunate."

I would imagine he earned his extra duty. While he may have been trained in office work, he has also been trained in combat. The army does not owe him a desk job.

The only way any senator can help him is if his supervision is violating regulations, and it doesn't look like it is.

He got himself in trouble and he has to face the consequences. Got to laugh at that part about a "little trouble". A little trouble does NOT get you 42 days of extra duty. If I were you I'd worry less about trying to get him out of this...because it's not going to happen...and worry more about telling him to straighten up and stop getting in the trouble to begin with. If he knows he'll have hell to pay at home as well as at work he might think twice about doing things that get him in "a little trouble".

The Army is not a good profession for the terminally stupid, no matter what John Kerry said. So he needs to wise up and avoid excessive whining.

I would stick with the Chaplin, and leave the senator out of it.

42 days!!! That's not a little trouble and you should stay out of it with the politicians, and altogether. Line companies need paperwork guys too and they are assigned all the time to line units.

you can't fight his battles afor him. he must have done something to earn the Article 15. interfereing may only get him into more trouble.

He screwed up, now he has to face the consequences of his actions.
