An atheist just lacks a belief in God, which is a personal philosophy of life.

An anti-theist is opposed to anyone believing in God, which is a sociopolitical position, as well as a personal philosophy.

They're not the same. An atheist is simply someone without belief in the existence of a god or gods. An anti-theist is in direct opposition to theism. A person who is an atheist isn't necessarily opposed to theism... they just aren't theists themselves.

Atheists generally just don't believe in the existence of a god.Anti-theists are usually people who will try and argue against God,or against religion in general, such as Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins.

You mean an anti-theist right? It just means that someone who dislikes people who believe in religion.

A lot of the time the people both dislike religion and don't believe in God. XD

Anti-theist is not a proper term; it is Dystheist, and such a person is against a God, which requires its existence.

No. A-theist is someone who doesn't believe in god. Anti-thesist is someone who doesn't like people who believe in god. That's not even close to the same thing.

Think of it this way. Do you personally disbelieve in Zeus, or are you against belief in Zeus generally? That's atheism and anti-theism respectively.
