I guess it's not so much a question as it is a rant. I am a fully involved step mother. I have been with her father since she was 1 yr old and she is now 4. It's been 3 years and the mom is still more worried about her pride than the well being of her daughter. I don't want to step on anyone's toes but if you're not going to make better decisions for your child..........
Are there any other frustrated step parents or parents in the situation out there?!?

i am a step mom also and have the same problem. i have been with my husband since before she was 1 year old and now she is 5 almost 6. her mom is very immature. she cares more about trying to keep her daughter from having a good relationship with my and my son (her half brother) than she does about her happiness. but you know what? when she grows up she will remember this stuff and will probably want to come live with us. i try to take the high road and not talk about her mom the way her mom talks about us.

I'm not a step parent, but I don't think it's right of the birth parent to act like that when both parents are separated. As the child I'm sure will be able to see how the mom/dad is acting, I don't think its good for them. The child should be able to grow up in loving homes and see that both parents even though not together can still get along and do whats best for the child. It doesn't help anyones relationship when a parent is acting that way. It's hard to say what to do in this situation as the mom thinks she is doing right by herself and her daughter. You may just have to tell her to grow up and do whats best for the child.

Not me, but my brother in laws ex wife left him and took off when there daughter was 6 months old... she has not tried to write or visit her child or anything at all.. he has since remarried and he had another baby with his new wife.... His ex still lives in the same town, and we see her from time to time, and she has gotten remarried now, and has another kid by her new husband..... I just don't see how a mother could do that to her child... it just breaks my heart.... and their daughter looks exactly like her in every way, so her daddy has a daily reminder of his ex.... but he is such a great daddy and takes such good care of his family, and she has a wonderful loving step mommy who has always been tehre for her... it is almost better this way... but honestly there is no excuse for her to have never seen her.... she live in the same town like I said before,, and the pop. here is 20,000 people, so its not that big... I dunno, but I am sorry you have to go through this!!!!!

I'm neither but I'm sick at times of people only associating family through blood ties.
