I dropped a peice of apple on the floor and my Shi-Tzh came over and ate it. I was shocked because he's a very picky eater.

A little bit of apple flesh only. But be carefull. Apple peel may choke him and apple core pips contain cyanogenic glycosides resulting in cyanide posioning.

My dog eats apples all the time, I take out the core though as I don't think the seeds are good for them to eat.

That was ok. It is bad for them to eat the pits of any fruit but a bite of apple was ok and dogs do like apples.

a small bite from time to time will be ok. My chihuahua/shih-tzu loves apple bites as a treat and so doesn't my grandpas pom. Another treat I use to give to my special needs pom was baby food (the meats).
