They can call it what they want........giftmass, etc.........but the fact is that they are celebrating the birth of Jesus right along with us.
So.........I agree with you......if they don't believe, they should work on Dec. 25.

BTW,,,,,I personally don't believe there is such thing as a true atheist.......most will cry out to God when death is near.....

I like having an end-of-the-year celebration. People celebrated the winter solstice long before Christianity. So why should I be denied that just because the Christians arbitrarily chose to celebrate the birth of someone at that time of year who may or may not have even been born at all.

Besides 99% of the activity surrounding Christmas has almost nothing to do with Christianity. I'm pretty sure plastic reindeer with lights inside them didn't come from the Bible.

Wouldn't stopping them from celebrating Christmas being taking away some right from them? Who's to say everyone that celebrates Christmas is a Christian? There's not only a single way to celebrate a holiday. Just like for Halloween when people (usually children) celebrate it for the candy rather then the other factors, there are many people (again, usually children) who celebrate it for the gifts and other stuff not related to the Christian faith.

Wouldn't this be like asking if Christians should not be allowed to celebrate non-Christian holidays?

Don't be silly. Atheists DON'T celebrate the fake birthday of the bastard Jesus.

Like it or not, Jesus is NOT 'the reason for the season'. The PAGAN holidays of Saturnalia, Yule, and the Winter Solstice were celebrated in December long BEFORE Jesus was invented. Christians hijacked them, even though Jesus could NOT have been born in December, because they thought it would be easier to convert Pagans if they didn't mess with their existing festivals and traditions. The Bible even FORBIDS the use of "Christmas trees" because decorating evergreens was the custom of HEATHENS.

Jeremiah 10:2-4 "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

That is what Christians celebrate, however non-Christians celebrate the season.
You have to realize these seasons were celebrated before the Christians started celebrating the birth of Christ.
That is why they have tried to take Christ our of Christmas, they celebrate Yule, or Saturnalia.
They like exchanging gifts, and meeting in families just like everyone else does.
I know Jews that love to celebrate Christmas, but they do not celebrate the birth of Jesus.

I think Christians should stop celebrating Christmas. It's a pagan holiday celebrating the Winter Solstice, it certainly isn't Christ's birth. Want to argue that you can celebrate it whenever? Fine, then there should be no problem with non-Christians celebrating with Christmas trees, Santa Claus, etc.

Check again bucko,

This has nothing to do with religion any more, just like it had nothing to do with the birth of Christ when it started. The marketing people have stolen the holiday Christians stole from some of the pagans.

I seem something almost poetic in that. Though I do find it sad that people will only get others gifts because it's Christmas rather than because they found something for them. To me it's just the time I'm reminded about the stuff I've picked up for various people through out the year.

Christmas is derived from Pagan traditions. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that i don't advise arguing this element with your 13 year previous brother... yet there isn't something incorrect with an Atheist celebrating Christmas. As you stated, it fairly is a commercialized holiday it is greater approximately spending time with your loved ones than it is celebrating Jesus. All one has to do is bypass procuring at Christmas time and attempt to %. up something that somebody else is reaching for. you detect out actual speedy purely how Christian the holiday is.

since christians hijacked a pagan holiday on Dec 25 to celebrate their cult holiday, they have no room to talk.

your comment "They are after all celebrating the virgin birth of the son of a GOD they dont believe in." is false. that is NOT what they are celebrating. most are celebrating the day off they get, and many more are celebrating the solstice. remember, a tree in your home and lights outside on your house are PAGAN rituals brought to modern times.
