I'd rather you "believe" in rationality, reason and logic. I'd rather you "believe" in evidence and proof.

I'm not an unbeliever, however I have many of the same ideas as one. I believe that atheist are simply turned off by many of the "religious" people preaching nonsense. It's not the TRUE teachings of religion that I disagree with. It's the misinterpretations of the followers that I have a problem with. I think that many atheists think that the world would be better off without religion because it can very easily lead to bad things. Let's face it, religion has been used to justify many horrible atrocities throughout human history.

Has anyone actually told you not to believe in religion? Or do you think they are implying it by saying it's not based on fact or it's imaginary? I am a nonbeliever, but I think that you should believe what makes you feel right and helps you cope with things. If that is religion, then, by all means, you should believe. It's only when nonbelievers are told (when they haven't asked) that they are "going to burn in hell" or that they are blind or that they are actually very unhappy but they don't know it because you can only be happy with god and jesus. I would never presume to tell you what is right for you; I don't know you and neither does anyone else who answered this question. Why are you even asking? Why do you care if someone thinks you shouldn't believe? If you are confident in your faith, you need no affirmation from anyone.

The fact of the matter is that NOBODY knows the truth for sure. Many claim to know, but nobody does. As a 29-year-old, who was pretty indoctrinated, as a child, w/ both Catholic and Prod propaganda, I hope that there is an after-life, but I have very little belief in Judea-Christian religious mythology. As I typed, I hope there is an after-life, in which we may be reunited w/ those we've lost, and, more importantly, in my view, fully understand the meaning of life and all of its mysteries.

As to what to believe..................well...................start by believing in yourself. I think that religion serves many people as a spiritual crutch, a crutch that one uses to deal w/ the daily toils of life. A crutch one uses to quell the fear we ALL have of mortality.

I try to believe in myself, my family, and, yes, the innate goodness of Man. I know that last one can be REAL difficult at times, especially in lite of the current state of the world. None the less, though, one must believe that we Earthlings will eventually overcome our differences and turn a new page in human history. Of course, it's not impossible that Militant Islam is the truth. Perhaps God/Allah does work in mysterious ways and 9/11 was meant to be a divine wake-up call to Uncle Sam. Who knows, rite? That's the whole point............nobody knows. I hope you're able to find some meaning in all this blither.

Why do you care! All of you people who argue day and night on this site about the existence of God are pathetic. You believe what you want, who cares what they want you to believe, you aren't going to listen to what they say anyway, just like they don't listen to you.

Personally, I don't want anybody to believe anything. Belief is the seed of deception.

Honestly, I don't care what you believe in. Just do a single, solitary thing to impose your beliefs on anyone else through the law.

What do I want you to beleive in, instead of religion?

I want you to believe in yourselves.
I want you to beleive that you can do whatever you want to do.
I want you to accept responsibility for your own mistakes,
and lastly when bad things do happen, I want you to pick yourselves up and start over.

I want you to stop wallowing in pity when things go bad, and stop blaming God or other people for everything.

And I want you to please stop using religion as a crutch!!

Thats what I want you to do.
