In my Soc. Studies class we have brain teasers. This one sorta stumped me so I need some other opinions.

Which one doesn't belong: aunt, brother, cousin, father, grandfather, granmother, mother, nephew, niece, sister, uncle?

I would say cousin. I'm not very sure about this one, but my guesses are that every family member has a "pair", for instance: father-mother, sister-brother, nephew-niece, etc. but cousin is by itself. I guess it's cousin...

Cousin doesn't belong. All of the other family members are specific about what gender they are. Cousin can either be male or female.

cousin. It's the only "non-pair" because a cousin can be either gender.

cousin because it isn't specifically a feminine or a masculan family memeber. It could be either one, unlike the rest.

All I can think of is "cousin" because it's the only one that isn't gender-specific.

cousin-- it's the only one without an "opposite sex" pair

i.e. mother/father.. aunt/uncle.. etc
