My cat is not 2 and a half years old, about 1 year ago he got neutered. He is a stay indoorss cat, so obviously doesnt get as much exercise as a normal outdoor cat. Over the last 6 months i have noticed (more when he is walking around) hes has this lump of fat or skin hanging from just below his ribs maybe slightly lower, when he is walking it hangs further than his body. I took him to the vet which said it was just fat, but i have had several cats and never noticd this, do i need to have an xray done or what? nebody have ne ideas?

If your vet said it was just fat then I wouldn't worry. My cat had some urinary surgeries and has a little pooch hanging too. His is just excess skin from losing weight after the surgeries.

It really is just fat. I have eight cats, and all of the lazy little buggers have the saggy tummy thing going on. Even very active cats can get it.

As long as the vet thinks he's healthy, and doesn't think that it's causing any problems, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. A bit of fat will make him more cuddly.

If you are really concerned, you could try putting him on a lower calorie diet - Hills Science Plan Light food is a reduced calorie food, and it's excellent for overall health.

Good luck with your little fatty. xxxxx

Have been a volunteer in an animal shelter & I can assure you this is very common. Nothing to worry about buy if you are concerned about hiw weight generally you could feed him Hills feline light, you can get from vets or good pet store. Think there might also be an indoor cat version

My fat sack kitty is a female and hers swings back and forth when she walks. When she jumps, she looks like a flying squirrel. She's been fixed for over 8 years now and is extremely active and still got the sack. My male cats have a bit of a fat sack as well, not as bad as the one female though. I had your same concerns too, but I trust my vet with what he tells me that there's nothing wrong.

Well it very well may be fat. I have three cats, all indoors, and two of them have bellies. If you're concerned that it may be something more, by all means, take him to the vet. But my male cat, who is also the youngest, is almost 3 and does have a belly. He's an indoors kitty too, it may be fat. Don't really sweat it too bad Sweetie, I'm sure your kitten is fine.

THIS IS NORMAL. I cannot express to you how normal this is. You even see it jangling when he runs from side to side. It is very unsightly i know but be assured that this pocket of fat that looks like an udder will not go away!! No matter how much exercise your cat does. All my cats have had an udder but my long haired girl had one as well but she has long hair and you don't see it as much. I think it is extremely cute. But keep his weight down as the area will get bigger. Especially that your cat is an indoor animal you may need to keep him on light diet.

my cat is the same hes been like this for 12 years hes 13 now and i used to think he wouldn't have much of a life being overweight but it doesn't seem to have done him any harm and in 13 years hes been to the vets once to get neutered.i have even had people knock on my door to ask when she has kittens could they have one. i said it would be a miracle if he had kittens.

One of my cats has fat below her stomach. She is about 8 years old and doesn't get much exercise because she likes to stay indoors. When she walks, her stomach swings back and forth. Not very cute.....but we love her just the same.

It is just fat dont worry about it. With my cat as they got older and quit being so active they got this "fat pouch" after being fixed. Unless your cat is acting sick or doing something not normall then you dont need to worry!
