You can either call him or you could do it face to face which ever you think personally i would do it face to face but that is your choice so you want it over?

Unless you ARE done, yes. Or maybe to make it more formal, set a time, date, and place and have one last moment with him and say it to him face to face. Even if you can't stand it, at least say it and show respect. :]
