Is this normal? I thought they were day time birds?

I wouldn't mind, but it's outside my bedroom window and they are freaking loud!

Good point crtter man. It has been going on for about 3 weeks. I was thinking maybe they have all moved in to a new home as they are very tall trees - don't think a cat would go that high.....could be a possub, but kookaburras can be pretty ferocious

perhaps it is friendly snake that is back... maybe that is why they are there, you know how they love to eat snakes.... in anycase isnt it great having a kookaburra laughing no moking you in the wee hours

I had the same problem with a few crows a year of so ago.... so i cut down the tree they were roosting in that fixed the problem.

so you are a little stuffed today?

Is it just one or more? In my culture: They say that only one kookaburra is a bad sign and may indicate death of a loved one. However, 2 Kookaburra's including laughing ones are a good sign. At 2:30am it's not really relevant though!!

Well the 07 possum and bandicoot comedy festival is on till Jan 25......starts up at 2.30 every morning and those kookas just love a good laugh. Buy some ear plugs till the shows over.

Normally, birds, those that have a tendancy to warble, laugh or hoot at night, do so around the time of a full moon.

Appreciate them, because they can remind you that you live in a country which has a lot of nature.

Living in Europe, there are none of those bush spirits singing their songs.

you didn't say for how long this has been occurring, it may be that some animal is disturbing them at about the same time every night. or it may be the neighbors cat patrolling the area
