Think about it, everyone is getting pissed off at everyone else for one reason or another because they agree or disagree with the Iraq conflict. Now everyone is very pissed because we have just lost our 3,000th person. Well we've lost 3,000 in FIVE YEARS, and we only lost 60,000 in vietnam, and vietnam was 14 years, if this was at a constant rate, we could be in Iraq for another 95 years to lose a total of 60,000

Does this bug the crap out of anyone else?
How does this make you feel about both conflicts?
Why are so many people still trying to empeach Bush?
We had hippies/protesters then and now, whats different?
Why does everyone still have problems with Bush?
Are you a Left-wing or Right-wing?(to undestand your other answers)

this country is about free speech and freedom. let the hippies have their tirades, we all know they don't serve in the military and will always be armchair quarterbacks. All we can do is state our opinions and facts and hope they actually THINK about what they say in the future.

It dosnt bother me because regardless of how many people died we still lost 60,000 to a pointless war and another 3,000 to another pointless war almost 40 years later.

I supported the troops in both wars (even tho I wasnt there for Vietnam) but I dont support either war.

People are trying to empeach Bush becuase, against everyones judgement, he is sending another 21,500 people to Iraq.

The difference between the hippies of today and then is the quantity of the hippies. Back then it was a fad where as today there are more people who just dont car. There are also less war protesting icons to sing music and there are harder drugs. And there is less free love.

I'm a Democrat!

Does this bug the crap out of anyone else?
-Not me.

How does this make you feel about both conflicts?
-I wasn't around during 'Nam.

Why are so many people still trying to empeach Bush?
-"Impeach." He's lied to us as a country, and he's been spying on us illegally. There's more reason to impeach him than Clinton back in the day.

We had hippies/protesters then and now, whats different?
-There's no draft. Plain and simple.

Why does everyone still have problems with Bush?
-He's an incompetent, lying Republican. Remember: "There ought to be limits to freedom." -GWB

Are you a Left-wing or Right-wing?(to undestand your other answers)
-Far left wing, but still not a hippy.

Never quite understood why some people find it necesary to label others just because they do not agree with some issue or another. Nor do I find it necessary or important to compare military deaths from the Vietnam war with military deaths in the Iraq war. .
58,000 dead for no reason.
3,020 and counting dead - for no reason.
I would be willing to bet Bush and his cronies could not name EVEN ONE soldier who died in this as you call it "conflict."
How would you feel if some military man or men came to your door to inform you that your son or daughter had been killed in Iraq...

"Oh. by the way, "he(or she) is just part of 3,000 who died there. And this is over a period of 5 years, you know. But you see we ONLY lost 58,000 in Vietnam over a period of 14 years! So that's not too bad, ma'am, sir. What we mean is that it's not a CONSTANT rate."...

So no, everyone who opposes Bush's war is NOT a hippie
(I wasn't even born then!) And everyone doesn't necessarily want to "impeach" Bush; maybe some just want him to go away or to resign or something;
and maybe some of us just plain think for ourselves and do not have to be labeled a right wing or left wing in order to offer an opinion...
and maybe issues that bug YOU don't necessarily bug others..because the REAL issue is that most people want the insanity to end, and that our troops come home......
ALIVE, as you are.

Could be the questoner does nt kow aht a hippy was in Viet Era and thsoe who were educated enough who fought against the war warned agains just what is happening today and yes the hippys agreed with them.
I am a long haired hippy even in my old age and I take a bath every day even when in the wilds in dead of winter.I have degrees, papers of Note, and am a conservative. Don't do drugs but not against them if one chooses for themselves to use such and unlike many my age am not all tied up with one form or another of "legal prescriptions" that has them in a constant stupor until death.
The so called great generation needed pills from wake up to sleep time.
The very same conditions existed hen and the very same people in power then are still in power today.
From trying to make the United states int a more open and above board countrtye those in the old redneck fat buisness suit and tie crowd like to play secret games and we invbade over 30 countries since vietanm a WAr On Terror, a War on Drughs and the vast populace heads nod up and down like bobble headed dolls and Puff The Magic Dragon of childhood fame has become a killing machine complete with missle guidance systems run from Florida killing a amn and his donkey visiting a wedding party in Afghanistan, Somalia Yemen iraq phillipines, Indonesia Balkans and Caspain sea lares.

well, since I asked the question, I wont vote on it.

I personally sort of agree with the conflict. I mean when Russia was coming in we gave them weapons to retaliate with. And history repeats itself, you give help, in return you get problems.

when I say hippies, i dont really mean the acid-based one that took over your imagination whenever you think of the '70s. It is safer to be in Iraq then DC, and Im not counting deaths like pennies in a jar, Im simply trying to make a point that Vietnam and Iraq both had ups and downs. And Ill answer my questions too.

This sorta bugs me.
they both had up and down
So many people hate bush because he has lied in the past, and history repeats itself, so people want to stop the lies
The hippies back then were so screwed up on their acid that they would atack the returning military personelle, and hippies got drafted and then went to vietnam and passed their drugs around and screwed up 1 in 4 people.
Im a righty(lefty loosy righty tighy, im a tigh a$$ too).

I'm not taking any crap from any hippies. I don't even know any hippies any more.

I didn't get pissed when the 3000th person was killed - but my heart was very sad the moment I heard we were going to war.

It's amazing how you count lives like they are pennies in a jar or something.

Vietnam was a horrible war. Are you saying that because this one is not quite as horrible - that it's okay???

We went into Iraq to find the hidden nuclear weapons. There are none.

Bush admitted himself that he has made mistakes regarding the war.

I don't want to be grouped into left-winged or right-winged. I just know what my heart tells me - and killing people - any time - any way - is wrong.

Hippies aren't the only ones that don't like the "Iraq conflict."

It doesn't bug me.

Both conflicts weren't about the people at all but for rich men.

Nothing is different.

Not everyone has problems with Bush.

I don't affiliate with any group nor do I feel the need to stick a label on myself.

There is no legitimate reason for the invasion or occupation of Iraq. Terrorism ? Why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia ? That is where the hijackers came from. As for Bush, his assault on civil right and constitutional protections, ( 1st, 5th, 6th amendments as well as habeas corpus rights) are justification alone for impeachment. I would impeach him for leading us into an unnecessary war under false premises. Once upon a time we used to elect presidents, not appoint them through conservative Supreme Court justices. If you are bugged now, wait until congressional oversight REALLY kicks in.

I see myself as a fed up moderate - tired of being lied to.

Answers to your questions:
The Iraq conflict is lame and we aren't doing any good over there
Vietnam was lame too
Bush is an idiot and should be Impeached (no E in this word)
I am not a hippie, just an intelligent, moral person
Bush has not done anything positive for our country
I am not a wing (see above comment about intelligence and morals)

Maybe you would feel different if you were pulled into the war or lost a loved one due to Bush's macho BS.

if you ha vent noticed the historical trend. society is less and less willing to tolerate the deaths of it's soldiers. ergo, death counts that were acceptable in 1969 aren't in 2007.

this doesn't bother me in the least.
this doesn't change how i feel about both conflicts.
i'm not trying to impeach bush, his administration should be investigated but i doubt he should be impeached.
the protest movement of the 60's was a lot more organized than it is now.
i still have problems with bush because his administration has suffered failure after failure (in my opinion at least).
i'd hardly call myself a left-winger, left leaning definitely.
