The truth

It depends if you want to loose friendship points or not.

If its something your friend organized in hopes you would enjoy it, it’s probably better to be tactful (a good way to do this I find is just to say "it’s not really my cup of tea" or something along those lines)

It really depends on the situation, with some things you can just bluntly say "it was &%$", some things need to be though out a bit.

I think you should always try and be honest as you would expect other people to be honest to you. Although even being honest can be done with subtlety and diplomacy. Choose your words carefully and don't be nasty about it. Just to the point but in a nice way.

I have always tried to be honest in the past and don't think lying gets you anywhere. It just makes things worse in the long run.

depend on the person. If its someone you know actually cares then tell them the truth and explain while they listen. If its someone who's just meaninglessly added it into the conversation waiting to get onto their next point just say "could have been better" or something to that effect

Well, if you're want to be polite, I'd reply with....

"Thank you, but I would have enjoyed myself a lot more if .... "

Of if you really don't care, I'd reply:

"I hope you choke on your own vomit you rat bastard! May you burn in the the everlasting firey depths of Hades!" Or something to that effect.

I think it's kinda one of those little statements such as, "how are you?" used to greet people. Like they don't really wanna know how you are, so it's accepted to just say, "fine" whether you are fine or not. So you could just be lame and polite and say, "thanks" OR tell them if you had a good time or not. And why.

Be honest. Say no I didn't. Although you must have a good argument to back this up with and you must be able to put it over in a constructive way rather than it just sounding nasty.

If you don't mind them knowing, then the truth will do just fine :)
