To be indoor only?. Long story short my kitty is extremely self-conscious about going to the bathroom inside the house, she will hold it until I let her go out and that worries me, the litter box has to be outside the door or she won't go. Because of this she became indoor/outdoor but she prefers to be indoor most of the time.

I have to move (you can read the reason in my questions) I want to get an apartment in a managed place where I don't have to constantly be harrased by the landlord but that will mean no yard I am doing my best to find a place with a balcony but it might not happen. How can I convince my cat that going inside the house is good and how can I make the apartment interesting for her so she won't get bored?.

One of the biggest and most troubling issues for cat owners -- after health concerns -- is litter box problems. You've got a pretty good one going!
Regardless if you have a balcony at your new place or not, after the move will be the best time to get her use to using the litter box inside. This sounds horrible, but you'll have to lock her up in the bathroom for a few days. Leave bedding, water, food, toys and whatever else she is attached to in there. She won't be happy about this, but the result should be her acceptance of the litter box inside.
Good news is when you let her out she'll have this great new place to explore and will focus on that instead of the outside. Hopefully this will keep her incline to use the pan in the bathroom.
Best of luck on the move and the litter box issues -- I'm sure everything will work out well in the end for you. -- Andy

Tough one. What about making an area that looks like the outdoors using plants? I've made a few of my indoor/outdoor cats only indoor ones, but they already used the pan indoors. I have one that comes in to use the pan and won't go outdoors. Another thought, what about putting the cat in the bathroom while your gone during day and see if she won't use the pan. If she doesn't try leaving her in there even longer, but make sure to go in and check on her and play with her. Once she finally goes give her all kinds of praise and a treat wouldn't hurt, then let her out with you for a few hours. Do this every day until you have sucess with her on a daily basis. Hope you get the balcony however.

Well, aside from forcing and making sure that she doesn't get outside, I really don't know what to tell you as far as going outside. However, maybe if you have a porch like area at your new apartment, see if she could use a harness attached to a lead that is outside. As long as she is supervised, she will be fine and will get to spend time outside without the risk of her getting hurt or running off. If not, you can always try a harness with a leash. Good luck.

I would get the spray called "Boundary"....its a repellent to keep pets away, if you spray that around the exits of the house maybe she wont leave, and I do believe they have a spray to teach cats where to use the bathroom and she'll really have no other choice :) also you could try and make it more private for her and get one of those "Dome" litter boxes so nobody can see her doing her thing

i suggest using a covered litter box so that kitty has some privacy when going to loo, and put in a place near the front door and maybe make a fuss of kitty after +she does
the loo in the tray.

try putting the litter box somewhere like a small closet or room of his/her own that you dont really go around
