Or does it have a different meaning in religious context, much like the word theory has a different meaning in a scientific context.

Religion seems to take license with the word 'truth'.
In order to establish whether or not something is true, it generally has to make sense and be backed by previous concepts known as 'true'.
Religious 'truth' is not only contradictory in itself but demands of the believer that he/she is to suspend any logical thought and 'believe'.
Moreover, many religious truths have been changed over the centuries - so one would wonder how 'true' they were originally.

WHY DO non secular human beings continually MISUSE THE word "understand"? In 2 words: COGNITIVE DISSONANCE it kind of feels to be a mechanism, orpersistent on the topic of self-protection. The mind is stressed out for self-justification. it truly is been spoke of in each major way of existence. It shows up in FMRI mind scans. Drew Weston confirmed that once someone is experiencing dissonance, the concept methods close down or maybe as the challenge starts lowering dissonance the mind centers that educate excitement become activated. the problem is that it truly is a technique of utilising bias and ignoring information that forestalls searching the reality or decision of a difficulty. once someone is experiencing Cognitive Dissonance it truly is really puzzling for yet another man or woman to break the technique. tries by yet another man or woman to break the technique will effect in the intensifying of the technique and the come to a call of the fellow experiencing dissonance to proceed attempting to reconcile it. And no man or woman is immune: atheists, believers, scientists, politicians . . . ______________________________________... astounding question Desiree! save 'em coming. : )

It never fails to amaze me how stupid people really are. Completely missing the point of the question!!!!!!!!!!

The existence of God is most certainly UNPROVEN. That is the only truth in religion! If TRUTH is relative, then so to is LYING or IGNORANCE.

For most people, "truth" includes not just what is actually true, but what they hope/think is true.

how many times have we seen here people quote "the truth, the way and the life"? (which doesn't even make any sense)

Truth is a foundation for the rest of faith.

So many have no absolute truth and they are tossed around like waves.

:
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
