What brands are the Best? And where should i go to look for them?

The best is going to be the CX-40HD and the CX-46HD by Runco. If you're looking for something a little cheaper.

Both Sony and Samsung use the same panel as they're manufactured in the same plant, so there's no clear winner. If you have satellite or fiber-optic, don't bother with Sony. It's not worth the extra dollars.

"Best" for me might not be "best" for you, but I really like the Sharp Aquos LCD (flat panel). I have had a 37" model for over a year now and love it. They've recently come out with 42" and 50" models. It's 1080p resolution (the best currently available) and is very highly rated by Consumer Reports and (I think) PC World magazine. Available everywhere -- discount stores, video stores, etc.

i'm looking to buy one right now myself...so far i definitely like mitsubishi, sony and samsung best. hitachi makes a nice tv too, and is usually cheaper. i like to look at www.circuitcity.com. they have good prices and lots of info on each tv. the customer reviews are helpful too.
