If the partition is not the system one (usually volume C:), you can use the Windows disk manager to do that (Control panel -> Administration tools -> Computer manager -> Disk manager; there you right click the volume and select 'delete partition')

If you need to repartition the entire disk, including the system partition (or your disk has only one partition where Windows resides), you must use the Windows XP setup CD to boot your computer and to delete the partition (this procedure appears at the beginning of the setup, then you can interrupt the res of the process).

Please consider the risk of losing valuable information when you manipulate disk partitions.

You have to insert the recovery disk and then restart your computer. Press F12 when the system brand logo is there. Then select the CD drive from the list. Make sure it is the correct CD drive. Then follow the instructions on how to reinstall Windows XP. This will delete the current partition and install a new fresh copy of Windows XP. I've donw this 3 times; all of them succesful.

NOTE: This will delete everything on the selected hard drive during the process. I recommend buying a flash drive or some type of removable storage and taking anything you need out of the hard drive first.

NOTE: The F12 button might not be the correct button for all computers. See the top of your computer screen to see what the button is for the Boot Menu.

Good luck!
